Miss Minnesota Contestant Workshop and Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen Pageant

Yesterday was the contestant workshop for Miss Minnesota 2011.  I cannot believe the Miss Minnesota pageant is only 2 months away!  If you haven't purchased your tickets for the pageant yet you can order them on the Miss Minnesota website( http://www.missminnesota.org/ ).  It was so wonderful to see all of my old friends from last year's Miss Minnesota Pageant and to meet all of the new contestants.  Everyone was so friendly; it was a great day.  After workshop we attended the Outstanding Teen Pageant. The Miss Minnesota's Oustanding Teen Pageant was very entertaining.  All of the contestants did a beautiful job; it must have been a tough job to be a judge for this pageant.  Congratulations to Alexis Houule, the newly crowned Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen 2011!  Watching the pageant only gets me more excited for Miss Minnesota; which is just around the corner.  I can hardly wait until it is June.

A Day of Volunteering

Thursday, March 31st, I spent my day volunteering in St. Peter classrooms.  Anyone who knows me, knows how much I enjoy getting students up and moving.  Most of these children learned about the Miss America system for the first time.  I started my visit in each room by introducing the Miss America system and answering any questions they had for me.  We then discussed my platform about the importance of staying physically active; and I ended each visit by getting the students up and moving.  Since I was visiting younger students we did Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.  We all had a great time moving around and even had a contest to see who could move the fastest.  Who knew those students could move soooo fast!  I am looking forward to my next visit.
Always,
Samantha Phillippi
